Woodworking Gluing Jig

woodworking gluing jig

But add a drill press and a jig and the job becomes very doable. make this jig from two 8-in. x 12-in. pieces of 3/4-in. plywood or medium-density fiberboard (mdf). just screw the pieces together to form a “t” and reinforce the jig with a couple of triangles. to use the jig, clamp it to the drill press table and the workpiece to the jig.. The glue-up. gluing up the entire rim in one shot would be ideal, but it’s just about impossible to do without enlisting the help of two or three people. if you just tackle a few pieces at a time, you can glue the rim without any help. i use a relatively slippery glue, such as elmer’s glue-all, to make it easier for pieces to slide into. The racks clamped in place with a strip of wax paper placed where the glue joint will be located to prevent staining. some strips of maple and walnut being clamped together for a cutting board. easily adjustable lengths of the pipe clamps make this jig useful for many gluing projects..
